The question is asked in this month’s Voice of Grace newsletter: What can we give to a God who already has everything? Because of God’s grace, we can give Him the one thing He truly wants over everything else: the gift of ourselves—you and me!
As a gift to us, God has given us His very own presence. This thoughtful gift from God literally involves everything He has: His heart, His time, His effort, His will, and even His sacrifice of self—all for us! Better than a thank you to God for His gift to us is the joyous response of giving our own presence back to God. After explaining God’s mercy to us, this is exactly what the Apostle Paul urges us to do: “I appeal to you, therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.” (Romans 12:1)
As God offers Himself to truly be present with us while we are yet on the earth, we respond by offering Him the gifts of our time, our treasures, and our talents. Giving these “presents” to God reminds us that everything we have, all of our time, all of our treasures, and all of our talents, are really God’s presents to us. Without Him, we would have nothing.
In the first weeks of November, our annual stewardship effort will help us offer to God the gifts of our time, treasures and talents. Our effort will culminate on Consecration Sunday, November 18, with a big Harvest Festival between the services! On that Sunday, you are invited to bring your sealed pledges before the Lord’s altar. Consecration means “set apart for service” and our pledge cards will include the commitments of our time, treasures and talents, to be set apart for the Lord’s service in the year 2019.
With this letter, we enclosed your sealed pledge from earlier this year and your financial contribution statement for the 3rd Quarter of this year. Also enclosed is a talent and interest survey for committing your time and talents for the Lord’s work in the coming year. Click on the word form to open the survey online.

Please pray for God’s guidance is you consider your pledge for the coming year. Please pray for the ministries of our congregation as God uses our collective gifts for His purposes and the blessing of our community.
