Please join us this week for our Holy Week and Easter worship services. We will have a staffed Nursery for Maundy Thursday, Good Friday (evening), and the 8:30 & 10:45 AM Easter Sunday worship services. Scroll down below image for descriptions of these services.
Maundy Thursday – April 18 (7:00pm)
A traditional service with Holy Communion remembering Jesus and His disciples on the evening of the Last Supper in which Jesus gave the mandate for His disciples to “love one another as I have loved you.” Each year at this service, our Confirmands (who were confirmed in the Christian faith on the previous Sunday) receive their first communion and participate in the sacred rite of stripping the altar in preparation for Good Friday.
Good Friday “Tenebrae” – April 19 (12:00pm & 7:00pm)
This traditional Service of Darkness (“Tenebrae”) is a powerful time of worship on this holy day. Children and parents from our school are especially invited to our noon service. Excerpts are read from the passion account depicting Christ’s crucifixion. Seven altar candles are sequentially extinguished as the sanctuary progressively darkens just as the sky did that dark day long ago. Don’t miss this service; you will walk away with renewed faith and gratitude in your heart for Jesus.
Holy Saturday “Easter Vigil”– April 20 (7:00pm)
A reflective and “first-glow” pre-Easter service recognizing the night Christ awakened in the tomb. The theme of the homily is “Unfinished” noting how Jesus’ work on the cross is finished, but He isn’t. He still has much work to do in us and through us, until His return in glory. After the homily, participants will have an opportunity for individual worship involving candles, baptismal remembrance, and private prayer.
